In a Vase on Monday – Ranunculus and Daisies

Happy Canada Day! July first is Canada’s national holiday and, by rights, I should have a vase full of red and white flowers. Maybe next year…and perhaps some of the other particiopants in this Vase Monday meme have some to show. Many thanks to Cathy at Rambling In The Garden for hosting and giving us an opportunity to share flowers in vases from around the world. .

I really am pleased with how my experiment in growing Ranunculus has turned out. When I first saw images of them I thought it was a rose, or a peony…and this variety, ‘Sfumato,’ has such subtle colouring (and even varied colouring) it really makes you pause an look a bit longer. I’m pairing it with some common Os Eye Daisies (Leucanthemum vulgare), and displaying them in a Delft vase a friend brought me from Holland many years ago.

    1. Everything I read about them say they don’t like heat and will go dormant in summer….for me, now, they’re just reaching their peak. Mind you, it was a long, cool, wet spring…
