The Lens-Artists Photo Challenge this week is called ‘Candid’ – Leya starts her post describing the challenge with a quote from the late fashion design superstar Karl Lagerfeld: What I like about photographs is that they capture a moment that’s gone forever, impossible to reproduce.
Our pup Shileau is 12 now. Although still a puppy at heart, her body has started to betray her – eyes, ears and hips – and this year I’ve been taking as many photos of her as possible. She has never been very good at ‘Sit,’ so by nature, almost all of her photos are candid. I don’t know what she was looking at late this afternoon, but she sure looked pretty standing between the red shed and the fall foliage of a small Pagoda Dogwood.
❤️ (My first comment was heart-eyes and the second, a heart, so I guess I’m following your site. 🙂 Beautiful captures in images and words of some of my favorite things!)

Watching them age isn’t easy, but sometimes I think their devotion shines even more clearly in their latter years.

I agree – and far more stoic than humans, often.

Welcome, Chris, and your lovely old friend Shileau! My oldest dog, Totti will soon be turning 12 as well – so I know. Extra many photos and extra much of love – we owe them.

Ah, the wisdom of gray-faced dog. Nice contrasts of focus, too.

Awww she’s a beauty. That white snout says it all😊. Afraid age gets us all eventually-she seems to be wearing it well. Lovely choice for the week
