A had a few early sunflowers this year, volunteers that sprouted in April and were in full bloom by the end of June. Only one of the seeds I actually planted in the garden even germinated, and it was nipped in the bud, so to speak, when it was only a few inches high, So I started a half dozen in pots in early July, and transplanted them when they were about six inches tall. Then it stopped raining. These sunflowers should be quite a bit larger than this, but hey, the blue jays won’t mind when they get to chow down on the seeds in a few weeks!
Well worth planting! They are lovely.
