In a Vase, on Monday – A Thanksgiving Vase

It’s Thanksgiving Monday here in Canada; we had friends for turkey dinner yesterday, with all the traditional fixings and a vase of cut, end of season, flowers fresh from the garden. You know it’s end of the season because zinnias aren’t looking that great while dahlias are looking better than ever. As part of Cathy’s weekly theme, here’s the vase that began the afternoon, yesterday, dead centre on the dining room table.

Dahlias, strawflowers and big blue Salvia are the best looking flowers in the garden right now, and should keep blooming until frost hits us in a few weeks. One of the things I love about this Salvia is the blue stems.

Have a great week everyone!

  1. How pretty! Is that strawflower white or ‘Silvery Rose’? It looks white to me. I was aware that Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada, but I was not aware that it is a different day from here.
